The official WhatsApp Business API: how it differs from the WhatsApp Business app

1. The WhatsApp Business app

The free app installed on a phone. It suits a very small business with one device. The downsides: it's hard to work in as a team, there's no real connection to other systems, and automation is limited to fixed messages.

What to know about the rules

• An outbound message to a customer is sent only with an approved template and the customer's consent.
• Within 24 hours of the customer's last message you can reply freely.
• You must get consent before sending marketing messages, under local anti-spam laws too.

When to move to the API
